Myers Family C2C – September Update 2009

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters of Creation2Christ,

Thanks so much for your prayers and care for our family
and ministry. We appreciate you all so much!

My mother Susan wants to share a praise about her health:
“Thank you for praying about my eyes. I was able to get
help in the week in between Custer and Mitchell and have
been steadily improving. The nutritional doctor told me that
I had a virus similar to Lyme’s disease and gave me pills that
specifically targeted that, along with a recipe for an eye
wash that Bryan made up for me. He told me that it would
probably take several months to completely recover and
that the prednisone had just treated symptoms. I
certainly have improved 100% since taking this route.”

It is good to have Mom’s sight back. She can proof read my
presentations, answer prisoner letters and write on her
education blog again! She is always encouraging us to
press on to new doors of ministry.

Dad is doing well, though he hurt his leg again, walking into
a piece of furniture in the night. It often takes awhile to
recover since he has diabetes. Please pray that the Lord
will heal it up soon. He’s a great dad and leads the family
so well. He is our chief driver, scheduler, packer, and lots
more. He gives me counsel and helps me improve the way
I present truth. Please pray for his strength to continue.

Bryan is doing well, and has begun quoting passages from
the Psalms that he has memorized before I preach. It is
a blessing to learn Psalms with a brother, and work together
as a team.

Jessica is faring very well. It is a joy to have a sister who
watches out for me and the family, who can replace a missing
button, teach a children’s class, sing a solo, or write
curriculum for C2C Clubs. I am so grateful for all that my
family does. I could never do it all.

Near the end of August, my family was in Mitchell, SD,
the home of the Corn Palace. Lighthouse Baptist Church,
a local church, lined up a creation booth for us to work at
the Festival there, which ran from Wednesday to Saturday.

Dad, Mom, Jessica, Bryan, and I worked those days and got
to do a lot of personal witnessing. From 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., the
booth was open to souls walking by.

We profited so much by the experience in Custer earlier
that month! It prepared us for Mitchell in so many ways.
We learned from the church in Custer to make a “magnet.”
We were able to find maps (both United States and World).
We covered them with contact paper and attached them
to foam boards. Lighthouse Baptist loaned us an easel.
As at Custer, they drew so many people to the booth. Most
everyone was interested in sticking a pin in for themselves
and in seeing where others had come from. Also, very few
people refused a tract once they had put a pin in the map.
It was exciting to see how many were open to getting into
conversations that ended in them hearing about the Lord
by the map. That was a wonderful help. Pins were stuck in
by people from every state in the nation except
Vermont and Rhode Island and many from other countries
such as Canada, South Africa, and lots of European and
Asian ones, etc.

There were soon so many pins from the Mitchell area that
local people started not putting in their pin. We solved that
by adding a Mitchell area map! This festival was more of a
hometown crowd than Custer, and many young people came
time and again to the booth and brought their friends and
family to see it.

We had tables with dinosaur toys and models, and a selection
of fossils to attract and teach people. “A little child shall lead
them.” The children would come in, followed by their
parents and we were privileged to share the Bible view of
dinosaurs with so many families.

Posters that gave lots of information on the creation/evolution
controversy were hanging around in the booth for people
to read. They worked well in providing facts and indicators
of the reliability of Scripture. The space we were given at
Mitchell was 20 feet wide and 10 feet deep. Because of this,
more people could fit in without feeling cramped or trapped.
This caused many more people to feel comfortable coming in.
And we had room to do things outside in front because of
where we were located.

There were many things to do for all ages. We did numerous
activities, using science to point to the Creator and Saviour.
This included, but wasn’t limited to Airzookas, the tornado
tube, and the witnessing tools in the combat pack, like the
Ring and Chain. The Ring and Chain was the favorite.
Hundreds of people were exposed to it, and heard the Gospel
through it. So many returned again and again to try it again,
to bring their friends to see, and to learn more things, like
how to shoot a rubberband the scientific way, or how to tie a
knot in a rope with one hand in less than two seconds!
And each of these things were used to open opportunities to
plant a seed, and share truth from the Bible.

A good number of carnival workers stopped and came in to
see our booth. We shared with them about creation and the
Gospel too. Several of them came back to talk with us again.
Some bought things like the Ring and Chain :) .

It is phenomenal to think, moreover, how many people received
tracts. It’s going to be exciting to find out in glory how many
lives were changed through the tracts, witnessing, posters,
etc. God uses us to deliver His message. Oh, that they may
be drawn to salvation through faith in His name.

Again, we were able to do many of our combat pack and C2C
curriculum activities with them so there were new things to do
each time, and some young people said they thought it was
the best booth at the festival. Often, each of us had a group
around us listening and doing the activities ( we were able
to set up different activity stations). Many of them got excited
about God and were really thinking about His creation and
His salvation.

Some people that we met at the fair came to the Creation
Seminar I preached in Mitchell the next week. We thought
that the Christian school in Mitchell might have us do
a session. We were hopeful since the principal came by and
said he would talk to his science teacher about having us
come. Perhaps it will happen another time we are in the
area. We also had many of the vendors and carnival workers
visit and listen and experience our booth. Several asked if
we were going on to the state fair the next week and were
disappointed when we were not. Fairs are such good places
to reach the unchurched, and now we are comfortable with
another approach that works so well at getting an
audience. I hope we can do more in the future.

Beside working in the Corn Palace Festival, and the Creation
Seminar at Lighthouse, we preached at churches in Pierre,
Hoven, and Wagner. It was exciting to be involved in the churches
there in South Dakota.

From there we went to Kansas City, where my sister Jessica
was a bridesmaid at the wedding for a girlhood friend of hers.
It was wonderful to see and visit with old friends and
acquaintances that we hadn’t seen in years.

Now in the weeks since the first week of September, we have
had the opportunity to preach in various local churches,
presenting the Creation/Gospel message ten times and
singing numerous times as well.

Some have asked what our plans for Creation2Christ are.
At this time I believe that God has called us to travel, doing
what we are now. We see the need of taking the message
to people instead of waiting for them to come to us.
We are trusting God to continue to open doors and provide
for our needs. We do need some more meetings in October
in Minnesota and in places on the way back. We also don’t
know what is ahead after that. We are looking to God
to direct us.

Please pray for our health, especially my (Kevan’s) cough
that won’t leave me. It makes it difficult when preaching,
witnessing, and singing.

Pray for open doors to preach in and open hearts to hear
and respond to the gospel.

Pray for the Lord to supply all our needs according to His
will and plan.

In Christ,

Kevan, for the Myers family and Creation2Christ

  1. How long did you guys live in Kansas?

It is so good to catch up on your trip. Sorry, I forgot that you have this website now. I put it on my favorites list this time for easier access.

I will be praying about your health. Try to get some rest, too. Sounds like that is what you need.

Keep warm. I love you guys.

    • Dear Mrs. Janice,
We lived in Kansas City, Kansas, from the time I was born, until 1997. Then we moved to Minnesota, then Arkansas, and then to Florida.
God moved us from place to place. I never really had ever expected to live in those last three states. But God used and prepared us in each
case. Now, of course, we are based in Florida, and traveling across the country when we get a chance to preach the Creation/Gospel message.

Thank you for praying for our health and recuperation.
